osmosis project

This project derives from the concept of osmosis, whereby water molecules move from an area of high to low water concentration. The biological process evokes fluidity, balance and movement which lead me to sketching the above drawings, including a  drawing of a Potra mihai skyscraper. The structure shares these ideas of movement and fluidity. 

 

Osmosis table

The two pillars placed diagonal from each other give the table its structure and convey a sense of balance. One of osmosis’ main themes is gradience and this is shown through the design of the foot of the table. I used cardboard to build the structure and paper mâché to give it strength, finally I added a couple layers of white paint to give it an aesthetic finish
